No, it only traps them before they can crawl either up or down the bedframe. This is not an insecticide only a trap. For more info on how to kill bedbugs, visit our Bed Bug page - http://www.epestsupply.com/how_to_kil...

A frame cabin with tongue and groove interior in the woods on lake in MO. Vacation rental. Expensive heat treatment done mid May when guest reported bed bugs in main floor bedroom (most used). No real issues again until now when Labor Day family reported bites on wife. I am in KS and going to cabin this weekend - does something different need to be done with this kind of interior?
All beds have zippered encasement in early May - I did forget to encase box springs which I will do this weekend along with put down interceptors on all beds and main floor bedroom nightstand. See more »

Typically, heat remediation treatments are 90% effective. That means it kills 90% of the bedbugs. The other 10% are left to propogate and start all over. I would recommend a complete insecticide treatment using either Transport Micron or Temprid insecticides. Pull the casings off of the mattresses and inspect for activity. Retreat all the mattresses, box springs, etc and then reinstall the casings. Also bed frame, nightstands, and yes even tongue and groove paneling needs to be treated and or at least inspected. This requires doing this 3 times. 3 treatment minimum in most cases to control bed bugs. 1 treatment heat remediation, fumigation or a insecticide treatments rarely solve the problem. Hello,
I have a travel trailer that has bed bugs in it. My concern is they may have gotten through a spot on the floor into the insulation under the trailer. I am trying to figure out how to treat the whole trailer.

I know just treating the inside is bad enough, but how do I or can I treat the underbelly?

Also how far can they travel? My brother-in-law is staying in this( and this was his thanks!) I put in an RV dump station about 50 feet from my house and 25 feet from my wood working shop. Do I need to do anything between them? How far do these things crawl? Will they get in or stay in the shop? How far away should I park my Motorhome? I am concerned about them spreading.

I am having my brother-in-law move out during treatment, I'm not sure what to do with all his things (he really has no where to put them). Can I set off a airisol bomb to treat all the picture frames, clothes, and things he has sitting around?

If we put all his things into garbage bags and sealed them, and put them down at the barn, would that just spread them or would they starve if left long enough?

Once the trailer is completely empty, what are my options at that time (other than setting a match to it! Well on second thought!!!! lol).

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Don

Hi Don, the overall best way to kill bed bugs is by using a residual insecticide such as Transport Micron and also using a growth regulator (Nyguard). This needs to be applied every 2 weeks to almost everything in the trailer where bed bugs can hide. If you can crawl underneath and spray the sub floor, do that too.

Bed bugs are not going to migrate through open areas such as along the ground, etc. They will migrate between rooms, etc, but not crawl in open outdoor areas.

Also, know that as a general rule, the are not going to be any farther than around 10 feet from their food source (your BIL). So anything within 10 feet needs to… See full answer »

Climb Ups and Bed Bug Defenders are traps. They are placed under the castors and feet of beds to capture bed bugs when they attempt to crawl either up from the floor or down from the bed. These devices basically create a barrier between the bed and the floor to stop bed bug movement. They do not eliminate bed bugs living in mattresses, and are used as an overall part of a bed bug treatment program. If the bed does not currently have any bed bugs, then they also work well to prevent bed bugs from crawling up the castors and getting into the bed.

The Interceptors stop the Bed Bugs from either crawling up the legs from the floor or crawling down the legs to floor. They basically isolate the bed so that it is almost impossible for the bed bugs to gain access to the bed. The only way at that point is if a comforter or sheet is touching the floor or there is some other way that bed bugs could climb on the bed.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it is comparable, however, it has a square cutout for the caster of a bed frame to fit into. Make sure that the caster or roller on the bed frame is a standard size and it will fit.

This product is a trap only. It does not contain any chemicals. The theory is that the bed bugs can't crawl up the bed or down the bed to escape. They are essentially trapped in the trap and cannot climb out.

The Bed Bug Defender uses talcum powder inside the outer ring to make it slippery so that Bed Bugs can't get out once they fall in. Its very effective and you can reuse the Defenders by washing and replacing the talcum powder.
