I live in Ventura, Coastal Southern California. I have been using Terro liquid ant baits for months and the ants have been feasting on it and thriving. I have taken ants to my local nursery and been told that they are Argentines and that they are immune to Terro baits. They always take to newly placed Terro baits immediately and in large numbers. I recently received my General Ant Kit and replaced the Terro with Advance bait stations, with a Pea sized glob of Gourmet Gel added in each station, leaving much of the Advance bait also exposed. I put these in the exact same locations where the ants always take to new Terro baits immediately. I have seen 1 or 2 ants occasionally investigating one of the Advance stations in the first 2 days, but none at all in the past 24 hours. The baits are in the Ant Trails in the same locations where new Terro baits always get taken immediately. HELP! See more »

The general ant kit is just that, designed for killing most species of general household ants - indoors. It will sometimes work on small infestations of Argentine ants. It will not kill an aggressive invasive ant population that can number in the billions such as the Argentine Ant. I would highly recommend that you research this ant and educate yourself as to what you are dealing with. That is the first step. - http://www.epestsupply.com/argentine-...

The second step is to invest in a long term program and utilize the KM Ant Pro System with Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait. This is the only system outside of spraying (continually) that will have an effect on the Argentine Ant… See full answer »

The front or top of the station is where the ants enter. There are small holes or channels into which the ants crawl to access the bait. There is no need to make any more holes. Simply place the station wherever you see ants and let the ants do the work. If you continue seeing ants after 3-4 weeks, inspect the station to see if there is any bait left. If no bait is there, replace the station(s). The trick to baiting is to keep using bait until the ant activity stops, but there is still bait left. If the ant population is large enough and they consume all of the bait, it may not be enough to kill the entire population. Hope this helps.

It depends on the species and severity of the ant problem (population). If the ants are extremely numerous, it may take more than a couple of disks. In most cases, control is seen within a few days. Let me know if this doesn't work and I can help you.

Do you leave the black top that conceals the poisen on the trap? It appears the ants are just on the outside. See more »

Yes, you do not remove or disassemble anything. These stations have openings in the side that allows the ants to enter and consume the bait.

The simple answer is no. The ingredients in the bait don't attract ants. The explanation is that worker ants have to be instructed by what are called "scouts" to feed. Workers follow a trail that is established by the scout ants to the food source. Until the scout ants establish a trail to the device, there will be no feeding. Its a very complex system that ants use. They simply do not wander onto a food source and feed. They are like a bunch of little "slaves" and only do what they are instructed to do.

The best advice is to make sure that the bait device is fresh and that when you touch it, you do so with clean hands. Be sure to wash hands before handling. It also helps to move the devices around if the ants are not feeding. You can also follow their trails to find the food source. Sometimes eliminating this food source (if possible) is the… See full answer »

Advance 360A works best indoors for smaller ant species such as Pharoah, little black ants, etc.

Big Black Carpenter ants are going to require a much more sophisticated strategy. I highly recommend checking out our page on How To Kill Carpenter Ants and then consider getting the KM Ant Pro System.

Ants in crevice where floor joists attach to the sill board. See more »

RonDawson  •
Just stick the dispenser on the floor joist next to the crevice. Use some double-sided tape if you have to and hang it upside down or at an angle. The bait inside is solid so it won't fall out. Replace as necessary.
