Recently had construction on our home. The local utility cut down 16 pine trees so that they would not interfer with their lines. Since then, and obviously, I've notice more squirrel activity and saw one on our roof. Would like to apply a repellent in the attic. See more »

The easiest squirrel repellent product to apply is Shakeaway. It's granulated Fox or Coyote urine. Just sprinkle it in the attack or even around the perimeter of the house on the ground every few weeks and it will help to scare the squirrels and keep them away. It works as a predatory scent. We have never had a report of harm to pets or animals with this product. Just use it according the directions and everything should be fine.

1 bottle treats 855 linear feet according to the label directions. A square foot is the same as a linear foot. So basically it would cover 855 square feet. There is no exact dosage for square feet, since the surface would dictate how much is used.

Fox urine granules may help repel skunks. There is no guarantee that this will happen, but it is worth a try. Only use the granules outdoors. There should be no effect on cats or dogs. They should be fine.

This product contains animal urines which act as a repellent by creating a "danger zone" to smaller animals that fear that they might get eaten. Simply apply it by sprinkling it along and around areas that you want to creat the "zone" around. It works on some animals and not others. The determining factor is whether the animal you are trying to repel is scared of the predator scent. That is what works, nothing else. If the animal is not scared of the scent, then you have to resort to other tactics such as baiting, trapping, etc.

It should have no effect on clothes when applied properly. The scent usually lasts 1-2 weeks.

I have never heard of it attracting coyotes. We have never had any reports. I can tell you that almost all surburban areas across the USA, coyotes and bobcats are increasing in numbers. No one knows for sure why. They just seem to be everywhere.

1 oz will treat 30 linear feet, each bottle will treat up to 855 Linear feet. A linear foot is 1 square foot in a row. So if you treat just 10 linear feet, that would only take 1/3 of an oz. Not much. If you treat a 10' X 10' area that is 100 square feet. It basically just depends on how you apply it. This is according to the label directions. I always make a slightly heavier application.

Typically, it will last up to 30 days unless heavy rains or direct sunlight destroy it first. As with most animal urine deterrents, they need to be regularly placed to establish a lasting scent. Usually every 2 weeks or so. 1 application can work, but won't last forever. The more applications you make, the stronger the scent will be and the less likely that rains, etc, will destroy it.

what was added to the product or taken out, the case i bought 8 years ago was dry, this was wet, and stunk to high heaven, we are very unhappy about this, i gave it a few trys as its has rained plenty, but its been dry the last week and it has done nothing to stop the ground hogs, See more »

Shake Away is the same product that it has always been. It contains a Fox Urine in a granule base. There are many factors that could influence whether or not using a Predator Scent will scare away Groundhogs. My opinion is that depending on the numbers of Groundhogs, the locations, etc, it probably would not work - in most cases. If it were for a single animal, next to a house, etc, then it might. It would not work in a large field for instance.

The use of "Natural Predator" deterrents such as Shake Away, etc, totally depends on the animals "FEAR" and natural instinct. If therer is no fear of the "Predator" then it would not be effective. I don't know if there are any limitations on the the use of this near food. I would not apply it directly to vegetables or crops. Applying it in close proximity should not cause an issue.
