Its a water based bait, so yes it can freeze. Normally when recommend to pick up the KM Ant stations when the temps fall below 50f. The ants are not going to be active when the temps are that cold anyway. We have never had a report of a problem with the KM Ant stations bursting when they freeze. I guess it is possible, but we have never had a report in 13 years.

The unopened bottle should last about 1 year. When used and applied into the the KM Ant Pro Dispenser, Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait should be replaced every 3-4 months or when totally consumed by the ants.

There is no official expiration date printed on each bottle. Generally, it is used immediately and then replaced every 3-4 months or at the very least 2 times per year. In the winter, just empty the KM Ant Pro Dispensers, wash them out with water and let them dry. Then just put them up until is warms up again. Then replace the Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait with new bait and start killing ants all over again… See full answer »

No. Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait is a liquid ant bait that must be dispensed in some sort of ant feeding station. As long as the toad does not eat or consume the liquid (which is difficult if not impossible), they will not be harmed. Even if they do, it will take large quantities to make them sick.

We have never had ANY reports of any illness, sickness or problems associated with this bait in over 11 years.

Gourmet liquid ant bait is one of the most environmentally friendly ant baits on the market that actually works… See full answer »

I have 2 dead white pine trees and notice a big infestation. Can i put this in a sprayer and spray the tree or is this not made for that type of application? See more »

Gourmet liquid ant bait won't work like this. It is a bait that HAS to be used in a liquid ant bait dispenser such as the KM Ant Pro bait station, or at the very least, a container of some sort. It is not designed to be used as a spray. The ants have to eat it over a long period of time.

It contains a form of boric acid that kills the ants when they ingest or eat it. It has no topical properties and will not kill the ants if sprayed onto them. It can kill living trees, as boric acid type ingredients are basically similar to table salt.

I have a problem with amber colored twig ants. I have tried various baits and insectides an nothing seems to work. It seems like the ants like palm trees, I see the streaming up and down several of our palms. Another thing I have noticed is that the visual presence of the ants is more prevelant during day time, full sun.

I live in the Sarasota, FL area, so we have lots of hot sunny days.

I was going to attached a pdf file with a a picture of the ant and an article, however your system doesn't alow pdf files.

I am looking for any suggestions you can offer to help me get ride of these guys. Forgot to mention that these guys do bite, not as badly as fire ants but the bite stings.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide. I have talked with several pest control companies, they have not been able to provide any suggestins or help.

Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait will kill any ant that feeds on it. The trick is to use an adequate delivery dispenser such as the KM Ant Pro Dispenser. Thats the reason that many times you will see references to both the KM Ant Pro Dispensers and Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait.

I am not famaliar with any specific research that has been performed on the ACT Ant. If the ACT ants feed on the Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait, it will kill them. The question is, will they feed.

The simple answer is that Greenway Liquid Bait contains boric acid which has the toxicity of table salt. It would be similar to your dog drinking salty water. In most cases, there are no issues. In a small percentage of animals acute poisoning symptoms may occur such as vomiting, diarrhea, etc. I have never heard of any deaths to animals from boric acid poisoning.

We purchased your KM Ant Bait Station kit with Gourmet Ant Bait. We've followed the "operating instructions". We purchase new Greenway or Gourmet Ant Bait each year. It worked great the first couple of years except at the beginning of spring. We've tried putting the Greenway/Gourmet ant bait out a month before Ant season, and even leaving it out year round and checking the KM ant bait stations monthly. But we still get ants in early spring. This year they've kept coming for the past 3 months. Are they resistent? Are we doing something wrong? See more »

Do you know what species of ants you have this year? Are they different than last year?

It contains DOT or a form of boric acid. I am not a big fan of Terro and have never had much success with it. Gourmet is a completely different product with different attractants, etc.

Ron Dawson,
Do you sell liquid ant bait that is .5% boric acid, or do you know anyone that does? The UC Riverside researchers tell me 1% is too toxic for argentine ants because the workers are killed before they get back to the queens in the nest. They say .5% boric acid works much better.

I'm a Senior Environmental Scientist at the CA Regional Water Quality Control Board, San Diego Region and I'm searching for a bait that effective against argentine ants and that won't cause toxicity in urban runoff. Initially this is for my personal home use; but if its effective, I will want to also share it with the cities, businessess and residents we work with. Also can you recommend a skilled and trustworthy IPM expert/practioner in the San Diego area?

hi Deborah, we sell Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait. This bait comes as 1% formula. It is very easy to dilute to whatever concentration you prefer by adding distilled water.

I can assure you that the manufacturer of the KM Ant Pro dispenser - Ken Kupfer, would disagree that 1% is too toxic for argentine ants. You may want to contact Ken at kjkupf@comcast.net for further clarification. Ken has made many visits to CA and has given numerous presentations to researchers such as yourself on this very subject. He is the most knowledgable person that I know of pertaining to ant control.
