The label on Taurus SC doesn't specifically allow the mulch areas to be flooded. This would also cost much more than what its worth, so flooding is not recommended. The usual treatment is to trench and treat the foundation and apply Taurus SC at a rate of 4 gallons per linear feet. The label specifies this and it's what I recommended.

As far as the mulch, termites normally don't feed directly on mulch, but it can attract them. I would recommend to use a mulch that is easily biodegradeable. Or use rock or stone. Hope this helps.

If I have completed the trench treatment and sprayed the fill-in soil as directed can i put gravel or turf on top of it? Example: can I fill in the flowerbed up to the home on top of the treated soil? Can I put new sod on top of the treated soil next to the house?

Also, if it rained within 24 hours unexpectedly after completing part of the treatment do I have to re-treat the entire trench and filler soil or just retreat the top few inches/very top?

Thanks! See more »

In most cases using a small amount of soil on top of treated soils won't be an issue. If too much soil is used, the termites could go around the treated soil and tunnel around it. The label says to treat the top soil as it is being replaced into the trench to keep this from happening. Treating the bottom of a 3-4" trench and then filling it with the soil also creates this problem. The easy cure is to just spray the soil after it is replaced, or to spray it as it is being replaced.

As long as the soil has dried the chemical will dry and bond to the soil. If it does not dry, then there is a chance of dilution or it being washed away. If you treated at a rate of 4 gallons per 10 linear feet and it did not rain enough saturate or leave water standing on the trench, don't worry about it. If the area flooded, etc, then I would… See full answer »
